Matt has an ongoing work project in Altus, OK. He's been traveling there a few times. His latest trip also coincided with a visit from my great aunt and uncle who would be in Weatherford the whole week. We threw in a visit to the Evetts in Cordell, and ended up with a really fun week.
We drove down to Altus on Memorial Day and stopped at the Wichita Wildlife Refuge for an afternoon hike. We hiked up Elk Mountain, which is the same mountain where Matt proposed 18 years ago.
The kids seemed to enjoy the hike. Their personalities shone during the hike.
Nathan- not really his thing, but not going to complain

Elisabeth- running along the rocks instead of staying on the trail
Katherine- Chatting the whole way about how she's having fun and that her legs aren't hurting.
The uniqueness of each of them is a favorite part of parenting them. They're all so cool in their own way.

Growing old alongside him is one of the best parts of my life.
After our hike, we continued on to Altus and checked into Matt's hotel. Then we found a Mexican restaurant for dinner and came back and watched Shark Tank.
Matt had to work on Tuesday morning. The kids and I took our time getting ready and enjoying the hotel breakfast. Then we ventured out to explore Altus. We ended up at a cute little park and played there for a couple of hours. After meeting Matt for lunch, we said goodbye and continued our roadtrip over to Cordell. It was a pretty drive!
We spent Tuesday afternoon and evening playing with our friends. The girls practiced and performed shows while the boys played Minecraft. Katherine turned this giant slinky into a drum.
Sweet girls were excited for a sleepover.
Wednesday we headed to Weatherford to have lunch and chocolate cake with Momoo. We visited and the kids got to play with Kolby for a bit while we were there. Later that afternoon we drove over to Granny and Grandaddy's house for more fun.
The kids always get so excited about the apple tree in their backyard. They tried to make some apple juice.
They also got to drive the tractor. My brother and I used to always like driving the tractor around the backyard. We felt so grown up.
It also took me back to the toddler/baby days when they would all ride on Grandaddy's lap on the tractor. Special memories.
Katherine took her babies and animals on a trip through the forest. It was so cute when she put her stuffed animal on her shoulders to walk around.
The kids rummaged through the basement closet and found this old game that Jeremy and I played often as kids, aww nostalgia!
This picnic set also took me back to my childhood.
I didn't get any pictures, but we spent Wednesday afternoon and Thursday visiting with my Aunt Sue and Uncle Riley who live in California. They visited a few times over the years, but we haven't been able to meet up with them- one time it was the weekend Elisabeth was born, and another time we were at Disney. So, the last time I'd seen them was my wedding. It was fun to catch up and visit. When I was in second grade, Jeremy and I went to California with Granny to attend Aunt Sue and Uncle Riley's wedding. I remember so much about that trip and spending time with them. My Aunt Kay and Uncle Wesley also came over and I loved listening to the three sisters talk fondly about the past.
Thursday afternoon we said goodbye to family and drove back home to Broken Arrow. Fun times!
