Couples Cruise, Part 2

 Tuesday was our first port day and we were in Roatan for the day. We were excited about this port because the ship docked next to a beach, so we planned to enjoy the sand and water for the day. Carnival had a chair lift that took us over to the beach instead of walking. The views were beautiful on the ride over. 

The beach views weren't bad either. 

We booked a clamshell and chairs to enjoy for the day and spent time relaxing on the sand. 

That morning we also went snorkeling. I had low expectations for the snorkeling. I just figured they threw in some snorkel masks with our excursion to make it seem more exciting. But, the snorkeling was awesome. We were able to snorkel along a big coral reef and saw a ton of coral and exotic fish. Also, there was a huge drop off right next to the coral which was wild to see- super shallow clear water that dropped off to darkness and hundreds of feet deep water. God's creation is incredible. Snorkeling that day was certainly a top highlight of our trip. 

After snorkeling we kayaked for a bit too in another area near the beach. 

The water color was one of my favorite parts of the day. The deep turquoise color was gorgeous and surrounded by all the lush vegetation- just stunning!

We kayaked in a calm little bay area, and we could see the rough seas and waves crashing against the rocks just ahead. 

After our adventurous morning we hopped back on the chair lift to grab some lunch on the ship before returning to the beach for the afternoon. 

After lunch we read on the beach- swam a bit, although the water was a little chilly, face timed the kids and did a little shoppin at port before ending our fun day at Roatan. 

It's a port I'd happily return to again someday. 

On Wednesday our ship stopped in Belize. Unfortunately, our excursion we had originally booked for the day was cancelled due to high winds and rough seas. That was a bummer for us as it was our most anticipated excursion (snorkeling along a coral reef and swimming with sharks). We didn't let it ruin our day though. 

Belize was not our favorite port and we didn't spend a ton of time there. We had to water taxi over to land. 

We talked at a small little port area and weren't brave enough to venture beyond- It all felt pretty sketchy and unsafe. We did a little shopping for the kids and took a few photos and called it a day after a couple of hours. 

The chair says we love it, but in reality we didn't, ha!

We were back on the water taxi heading back to the boat by early afternoon. 

The water color gets a 10/10 for me, but everything else rated low. 

Instead of exploring Belize we enjoyed some more of the ship's attractions for the afternoon. We rode the sky rider with our friends, and played a round of miniature golf. 

Wednesday was our second formal night of the cruise, and spaghetti carbonara was on the menu along with lobster tail. That helped redeem our not so spectacular day in Belize. 

We clean up nicely!
