We had a fun day celebrating Samuel's seventh birthday with his friends. He had a hard time at first deciding how he wanted to celebrate his birthday. He's been interested in Mario brothers and playing video games on the Switch for the last few months, so I suggested a video game party with just a few friends. He hopped on board with that idea, but once we started looking at ideas and planning things it morphed into a dozen friends with regular party games and just some video game playing at the end. It was a super fun party to plan. I think I've always hoped my boys would want a Mario Brothers party. There are so many cute ideas!
This boy was ready to party and couldn't wait for his friends to arrive. He asked to have all boys at his party, but did allow Elisabeth to come. She didn't mind being surrounded by boys, ha!
When all the guests arrived, they went outside to play their first game- Dodge the Boos (Dodge Ball).
When the kids came inside, they noticed that the cupcakes were missing, and there was a note from Bowser! Oh NO! He came to ruin Samuel's celebration.
The note said the kids needed to find and give Bowser 100 coins in order to rescue the cupcakes.
First up, they stomped on Goombas to find coins.
It was fun to watch them popping all the balloons.
They counted up the coins once they stomped all the Goombas, but sadly it wasn't enough to get their cupcakes back.
So they headed outside for a Yoshi Egg Hunt to find more coins.
They emptied all the coins out of the eggs and reached their goal! Yay for cupcakes and defeating Bowser :)

They went back inside for snacks and cupcakes. Planning the food for the party was fun. Samuel and I (along with Pinterest) came up with some fun ideas.
Samuel had a great group of boys join him to celebrate. He invited a few school friends, a couple of church friends, some family friends, and some older brothers who are good friends with Nathan. I'm so happy that he has such fun friends.
The boys devoured the snacks.
After they ate snacks and cake, We had a hidden block punching game. It was fun to plan all the details out. They punched a block and found a snack with a Mario symbol on it (Star, Yoshi Egg, Fire Flower, Bowser Head, Red Mushroom, Green Mushroom), and their was candy that matched the theme of the symbol (Starburst, Kinder Joy, Orange Tic Tacs, Extra Sour, Sour Patch Kids, Skittles, and Green Mike and Ikes). The boys were thrilled for more candy, ha!
After the Hidden Block game, Samuel opened his presents, the then I sent everyone outside to burn off all the extra sugar. They eventually came inside and played some video games in smaller groups. It was a great afternoon. I hope Samuel loved it!
We gave a favor cup with star cookies, golden chocolate coins, and Mario Fruit Snacks to the guests as they left.
My happy, happy SEVEN Year Old at the end of his party. He's the best!
