Nathan's birthday party was so much fun. Along with all our family, we had several friends come over to celebrate with us. As soon as everyone arrived, we let Nathan open his gifts.
All our guests know him pretty well and got him wonderful toys. He seriously loved every one of them. He would open one and immediately start playing with it. It was all I could do to redirect him from that toy to opening another gift. I know everyone enjoyed watching him play with his new toys. And once again, my kid stole the show as the center of attention.
He got a tractor, trucks, clothes, books, blocks, bubbles, and a ton more stuff. He's a spoiled little boy, but at least he showed his gratitude by playing with all his new loot during the party.
We had a full house. There were about 20 of us total. I think that is the most people we have had in our home since we've lived there. We are truly blessed with wonderful family and friends who took time out of their busy lives to celebrate Nathan's first year with us.
After presents, it was cake time. This was the part of the party I was looking forward to the most. I just knew my little one had a sweet tooth, and I was right. After taking a few seconds to try and process what we had set in front of him and why everyone was looking at him and singing, he dove right in and never looked back!
He just kept eating and eating, like it was any other normal day. People were talking and standing all around him, but he tuned everyone out and just kept eating his cake.
And my kid who won't keep a hat on his head to save his life wore that party hat the entire time he was eating. Distraction is the key!
While he kept eating, we let our guests enjoy the snacks and cake and spent the rest of the party visiting with all our friends and family.
After a bath and a good cleaning of the high chair, he was ready to play again! We couldn't end the day without a walk around the neighborhood in his new wagon. He was a tired boy by that point, but he always enjoys walks.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Nathan's birthday such a special day for our family. It was full of precious memories with our sweet boy.
