Wednesday was our last day in Tennessee, and we were back at Dollywood for the day. Our family can never have enough theme park fun. We were expecting another low crowd day, and that's exactly what we found.
The kids were ready for more roller coasters. We repeated all the big coaster from day one and walked on all of them with no wait.
Katherine had seen an ad in her guide about these sweet fairies, and she had to meet them. She chatted away.
Since we had all day, the kids spent awhile in the play area.
After the play area, Katherine realized the Blue Fairy was out greeting guests, so we had to go and meet her. Katherine told her how she had met her sister- the red fairy earlier in the day. I love how characters are still magical to her even as she's growing up.
Katherine's one request for the day was to watch the Country Music show. Shows and country music aren't really our thing, but an open day meant we could grant her request.
Nathan's YouTube research taught him that Auntie Granny's is the best restaurant at Dollywood (also, the most expensive, I'm sure). He begged to each lunch there, and we obliged. I'm not sure his smile was worth the price tag, ha!
The kids were fans of the mac and cheese.
After lunch, we spent the afternoon exploring and reriding everything even more times.
The girls even rode some of the smaller rides.
I had mentioned to Matt that since we'd already explored the whole park on Sunday, we'd probably be ready to leave by midafternoon. Well, jokes on me for that one. I should know my kids better than that by now, ha! We shut the park down at 7:00 that night, and had it stayed open longer, I'm sure the kids would have filled the time.
We ended the night on a family ride of Lightning Rod, a park favorite for sure.
We said goodbye to Dollywood and drove over to a lookout point in Gatlinburg to end the night. Samuel had asked to see a sunset in the mountains, but we didn't have time to drive to a better lookout point.
The view was pretty great, and it was the perfect ending to the mountain portion of our vacation.
We drove back to our cabin for the evening, packed up and headed to bed, ready for our next adventure.
