We had a great weekend full of so many fun Christmas activities! We started the festivities on Friday evening. We went out to eat at our favorite Mexican restaurant with my parents and then we all went to our church's Christmas program. It was a great program combining drama, choir and orchestra. We have so many talented people in our church, and it was a great reminder of the whole reason we celebrate this time of year.
Matt and I had our annual Christmas date on Saturday. My parents picked Nathan up that morning, so Matt and I had the whole day to ourselves, and we had a great day!
We started our date by heading to the movies to see Wreck It Ralph. We had been wanting to see it for awhile but had never had the chance. We both really liked it. In fact Matt said it was his all time favorite Disney (non-Pixar) movie. I think it was all the nostalgic references to old video games that sold it for him. Afterwards, we kept with our video game theme and headed to Dave and Busters for lunch. We had never been there before, and we both had a good time. We spent a couple of hours playing all the games including several rounds of skee ball. We both commented that it was fun to do something new and different for our date rather than just a standard dinner and a movie. We stopped for ice cream on the way home.
That evening we finished off our Christmas date with our Sunday school Christmas party. We always have such a great time at the Christmas party. We had a great turnout and enjoyed all the yummy food and even better conversation. It was nice just to relax and visit for an extended period of time with all the great couples in our class. We also always do a Dirty Santa ornament exchange which includes lots of laughter. Matt and I ended up with some great ornaments this year. Everyone brings such unique ornaments. We never know what we'll end up with.
Sunday afternoon after church and a quick nap for me and Nathan, my mom picked all of us up and we went to a Christmas Parade of Homes her church sponsors as a fundraiser. It was fun to see all the beautiful houses decorated for Christmas. One of Nathan's teachers from WEE ministry opened her home for us to see, and it was incredible. Their family is very blessed financially, and her house was huge and amazing. It was fun to see. Matt liked looking at the cars in the garage. Nathan enjoyed all the cookies at each stop. It was a fun way to spend the afternoon. I can never get enough of the fun Christmas activities this time of year!
