Frontier City 2019

Every summer we try and take the kids to Frontier City for the day. The kids were pumped for a fun day! They're all roller coaster lovers.

I think we chose the hottest day of the year to go (if only I had known that the end of July would bring an unusual cold front :/), but we still had an awesome day. I was really worried that the heat would make everyone grumpy, but everyone had great attitudes all day (even me, ha!).

Four excited kiddos ready for some thrills!
Our first ride of the day was the tea cups- Katherine's choice. She was a fan, but those big kids could spin those tea cups too fast for my stomach.
The pirate ship is always a favorite. Kate rode it once but ended up not being a fan. She liked it at first, but the higher she went, the tighter she clung to me begging to be "all done"

We rode rides all morning. Some highlights were the log ride, the Wild Cat, the Silver Bullet, and the carousel- Katherine's favorite. Nathan even conned me and Matt into riding the Brain Drain and the Diamond Back with him. Those rides seemed so much cooler as an eight year old.

We spent some time in the kids' area for Katherine. It's crazy that the boys have really outgrown that area :(. We've been taking them since Nathan was two and we have so many special memories- especially of this little train that Nathan adored the first time he went. Katherine loved it this time.
We kept cool by leaving the park and cooling off at Braums for lunch and also watched an indoor magic show in the middle of the afternoon. Elisabeth was thrilled to be chosen to be the magician's assistant during the show. That magic show has become an annual tradition. The kids always look forward to it.

Katherine finally crashed about 3:30 that afternoon. Sweet Girl was such a trooper in the heat and not being tall enough for a lot of the rides.

We ended the day at the playground. We've almost always shut the park down, but the heat really wore everyone out, and Nathan was happy to leave about 6:00 that night. It was a favorite summer day for everyone. We can't wait until next year.

July Summer Fun, Part 1

We continued with more summer fun in July.

We spent a fun morning at the zoo. We don't make it there very often anymore, and everyone had fun!

We also spent a morning at the Gathering Place. We hadn't done any of the water areas, and the big kids spent the entire two hours playing with the water. It was so fun!

Katherine got bored with the water, and she and Daddy went exploring around the rest of the park.

And even stopped for ice cream without the rest of us, how rude!

It was fun to see the kids all playing together and using their imaginations. They said they were building a swimming pool with a high dive.
We also finished up swimming lessons at the beginning of July. The kids loved them, and we especially loved getting to see our friends everyday for two weeks.
There is so much silliness around our house, even on Sundays.
Elisabeth started asking to take a purse to church. She likes to fill it with chap stick, lotion, and jewelry.
I taught Nathan how to clean the bathrooms this summer. It's probably not a highlight for him, but it is for me, ha! He does a great job!

We made homemade playdoh for a summer activity. The kids each picked a color to make, and then I sent them outside to play with it.
They had some really creative ideas!

We trekked over to the peach barn for some peach ice cream (except Elisabeth wanted chocolate ice cream). It was a yummy way to spend a summer afternoon.

We also spent lots of days at the pool.
We had a fun pool play date with Audrey and Levi (aside from some sibling squabbles- because summer, right?)

The kids really liked all the fun library programs and shows they offered over the summer. We went to several and this Music with Will Parker show was a favorite. They loved getting to dance in the aisles and listen to all the silly songs.

We also had to redeem some summer reading library coupons for cookies! So fun!

We spent some of our summer evenings with the Dalmans. Matt helped Brett with some painting while Michelle and I supervised water balloon fights and pool time. We loved all the quality time we got to spend with our friends this summer. It's my favorite part of summer.

These two are becoming fast friends. They remind so much of their big siblings' friendship. Katherine asks to go to Luke's house all the time.

She's a big fan of popsicles!
I love my sweet girls in their matching summer dresses. Girls are fun!
