While the other kids participated in music camp at the beginning of June, Nathan spent the week at ORU at a STEM camp learning all about ciphering, rockets, and robotics.
He roomed with be best buddy Daniel for the week.
Elisabeth had a Keepers of the Faith meeting at the beginning of June. They started a mosaic project and ended the meeting making edible mosaics :)
The Shondelmyers spent an evening with us, and the girls dressed up Honey. I don't think she was too excited about it.
We love summer and the extra time we get to spend with some of our best friends.
We spent an afternoon with the Breedens. Anne and I were hard at work planning Middle School events for the year. It's tough having meetings at the pool.
We picked up Nathan on Friday afternoon from his camp. They had a short awards ceremony, and Nathan and his friend Jax won first place in the robotics competition.
So glad these boys could spend the week together.
The next week of June was VBS! Nathan and I worked with Pre-K missions for the week. Samuel was a huge help in decorating our room. He's such a creative kid.
Elisabeth was ready for crazy hair day.
We made it to a Drillers Game this summer. We missed it last year. It's a fun summer tradition.
The boys tagged along with Mindy's church to an AWANA camp in Arkansas for the week. When I picked them up, they both talked non stop about everything they did and learned that week.
While they were gone, the girls and I did all the girly things. We had a pool play date with friends.
And we got manicures and pedicures.
Elisabeth had another Keepers meeting, and the little sisters were invited to join.
They finished their mosaics. Elisabeth's turned out great. She gifted it to Granny for her garden.
They also had a swim safety lesson at the meeting.
The girls conned me into fancy snow cones on the way home. It's easier to say yes when there's only two of them.
As much fun as we had on girls' week, we were missing our boys!
Their reunion was sweet.
The boys made crafts during camp and gifted them to their sisters. They were such thoughtful gifts!

We had a crazy day where we lost power for almost a whole day. It was stressful! But the bright side was, we got to have a spontaneous pool day with some of our favorite people.
Including matching swimsuits, ha!
Summertime means lots of outside time. We had a Noah's Ark theme going this June.
We hosted a couple of families for a pool day. The big kids were all in pre-k together, and now they're teenagers! Time FLIES!

Each semester, the kids complete a reading challenge. If they complete the assigned reading, then they are rewarded with an Adventure Day where they can choose a special activity for the day.
For their Spring Adventure Day (that we celebrated a little late this year), they asked to go to Smoothie King (to try the Dude Perfect smoothies), and then spend the day at the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum in Seminole.
We visited this same museum last summer, and the kids had a ball. We were all excited to visit again. It's a great place to facilitate play, creativity, and imagination.
Their traveling exhibit this year was a carnival theme. We all played many rounds of skee ball throughout the day.
The firetruck always draws them in, especially with the costumes.
The museum has renovated their outdoor area, so we explored that for a little while before it got too hot.
These diggers were really fun. They've come along way since Matt and I were kids.
Their favorite exhibit is always the theater. They put on several productions during the day. Samuel always helped with music/sound effects, Elisabeth directed, and Katherine danced and acted.
We also did a little mini trial in the courtroom.
They all played for a long time in the veterinary office. They took turns with different jobs/roles.
This water area is the boys' favorite. They stayed a long time trying to figure things out.
The kids asked to play Supermarket Sweep in the grocery area. I gave them a list of items to collect, and whoever found them first was the winner.
Katherine put on a puppet show for me.
After lunch, the girls asked me to time them racing up the climbing structure.
Later in the afternoon, we spent more time in the theater.
We stayed until about 20 minutes before the museum closed, so we could grab dinner and not get home too late, but the kids were still begging to stay longer. We ate at a local diner and then drove home. We had such a great day together. I told the kids how thankful I am for their behavior, independence, and responsibility during outings. Taking them places is so much fun and so much less work now that they're older, And as always, I'm grateful for the blessing of getting to spend each day with them throughout their childhood. Such a gift and a joy!
