We've had the opportunity to attend several field trips this Spring, and being together with all the kids and their friends always makes me grateful for our homeschooling journey. Our first trip this Spring was to Woolaroc. We visited on a super windy day, but we still managed to have a good time. The kids were enthralled with all the animals we saw on the drive to the museum.
We spent the morning exploring the museum. One of the moms brough along a scavenger hunt that turned touring the museum into a competition- right up my kids' alleys.
I caught these girls chatting it up after they finished looking at all the things in the museum.

Then we explored the petting zoo/animal exhibits. The baby goats were adorable. Katherine was a fan.
For our last stop, the kids visited Mountain Man camp and tried axe throwing.
Later in April we visited Harn Homestead in OKC. The kids saw a ropemaking demonstration, and each got to participate.
They also got to join in on some hands on exhibits like laundry, cattle roping, corn grinding, and farming in the early 1900s.
While the kids did the laundry and milked the cows, the moms got a chance to sit and visit for a bit.
Then they toured a farmhouse. It was neat because unlike most of the hold houses we've toured, in this house they actually got to touch and play with things.
Samuel even got to play the old piano.
We breaked for lunch before the one room schoolhouse exhibit.
The kids spent the last hour of the field trip learning about school in the early 1900s.
Poor Katherine wore herself out and had to be carried to the car at the end of the day. I don't think she could handle life 120 years ago.
A few days after the Harn Homestead field trip, Katherine had a Pre-K zoo field trip. Since I had just taken her on a field trip and wanted to be at the other kids' co-op, she got to spend the day with Daddy and I heard they had an awesome day together.
The zoo was super crowded that day, but they still managed to have a great time.
At the end of the day, Katheirne insisted on pictures on all the animals at the playground.
I'm grateful for some sweet, quality daddy daughter time for those two.
Finally, at the end of April, we visited a semi-local sheep farm and learned about the sheep shearing process, including cleaning, spinning, and weaving. It was a beautiful property too.
We watched a mama sheep being sheared, and she did not like being separated from her baby! The talked back and forth the whole time. It reminded me of my experience in motherhood too, ha!
We took a quick tour of the museum and spent some time at a little petting zoo.
The peacock was the best part! Katherine's favorite animal is the peacock, and she and Matt looked all around the zoo looking for it but couldn't find it there, so this was a fun surprise for her!
Sweet Samuel is always so gentle with animals.
This is a great group of kids!
I'm always grateful to spend my days with these four. The gift of time is the greatest benefit of homeschooling them.
